Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in which a 69-year-old woman was killed and a 49-year-old man was injured in Sai Wan Ho this (February 14) afternoon.
At about 3.15 pm, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 49-year-old man was travelling along Island Eastern Corridor east bound. After turning to a slip road heading to Kornhill, it reportedly had a head-on collision with a private car driven by a 41-year-old woman on the slip road in the wrong direction.
The 69-year-old woman, who was the passenger of the private car, sustained serious head injuries while the driver of the LGV sustained slight injuries. Both of them were rushed to the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eatern Hospital where the woman was certified dead at 3.50 pm.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are proceeding.
