Police today (January 20) charged a 25-year-old man with one count of possessing equipment for making a false instrument.
Officers of the Commercial Crime Bureau arrested the 25-year-old man and four other women, aged between 41 and 47, following investigations into a payment card fraud reported on January 17, 2006. Investigations revealed that they acted as promotion staff of a coupon company and obtained the payment card information with the personal identification numbers from victims for producing forged cards. A subsequent search at the office of the 25-year-old man in Kwun Tong led to the discovery of some equipment for manufacturing forged cards.
He will appear at the Sha Tin Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (January 21).
Meanwhile, the four arrested women have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
