Top US self-storage company opens second Hong Kong facility (with photos)
************************************************************

US industry leader, MiniCo Self-Storage, officially announced today (January 19) the opening of its second facility in Hong Kong.  It is located in Chai Wan, and joins the company's successful Kwun Tong facility which was set up in June, 2002.

MiniCo Self-Storage is a division of MiniCo, headquartered in Arizona.  The company chose Hong Kong for its first location outside the US to introduce the new concept of professionally managed self-storage services.

The Chairman and CEO of MiniCo Inc, Mr Hardy Good, President, MiniCo Asia Limited, Ms Marilyn Leslie, Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, Mr John Rutherford, and other officiating guests celebrated the grand opening of the 65,000 sq ft new facility.

The company's introduction of American-style self storage to Hong Kong was an obvious move for Mr Good.

"Self storage has proved to be a concept that appeals to virtually all types of people in almost every country and culture.  Storage in apartments and office spaces in Hong Kong is extremely limited. We are providing a convenient, affordable storage solution for residential and commercial customers that is clean, private and secure," he said.

Ms Leslie pointed out the unique features of American-style self-storage as compared with traditional storage options in Hong Kong. "MiniCo Self-Storage offers convenient locations near public transport, extended access hours and month-to-month leasing," she said.

She said she was confident that, with the level of cleanliness, security, accessibility, and customer service that MiniCo offered, there was tremendous potential for the company in Hong Kong.

Mr Rutherford, of Invest Hong Kong, congratulated MiniCo on its expansion in Hong Kong.  "We are delighted to see MiniCo¡¯s successful operation in Hong Kong, and its commitment to grow its business here," he said. "This expansion by the company once again confirms that Hong Kong is a market which welcomes all kinds of products and services.  Foreign invested businesses such as MiniCo not only bring capital investment and create jobs.  They bring in new ideas and management skills. We wish MiniCo all the best with its developments in Hong Kong."

Since 1974, Phoenix, Arizona-based MiniCo, Inc. has grown into a multifaceted business. It is US¡¯s leading provider of self-storage insurance products, publisher of quality self-storage magazines and reference materials and provider of security products for facility use and resale.  To give people a chance to experience this relatively new concept, the company will organise an open house on Sunday (January 22) at the Chai Wan facility.  For more information, please visit the website at http://www.minicoselfstorage.com.

Invest Hong Kong is the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government department charged with encouraging and facilitating inward investment into the city by providing the support needed to establish a business presence here.  For more information, please visit the website at www.investhk.gov.hk.
