Five employers ordered to pay MPF

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (January 11) pursued five claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $130,000 on behalf of six employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     At today's hearing, the two defendants, including City One Services Management Limited and Well Union & Union Limited, did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $25,847.59 and $20,532.88 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The other three defendants, including Fine Projects Limited, New Wisdom International Limited and United Fame Enterprise Limited trading as Lucky Restaurant, did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $35,856.78, $28,051.71 and $16,322.38 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payments of $300, $200, $130, $270 and $80 as the costs in respect of the claims.
