Final performance of Schools Creative Music Showcase
****************************************************

    The Final Performance of the Schools Creative Music Showcase will be held at 6.30pm on Thursday (January 12) at the Auditorium of Sha Tin Town Hall. Twelve outstanding school teams will stage their creative performances and compete for various awards.

     The Schools Creative Music Showcase is co-organised by the Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) and the Hong Kong Composers' Guild, and sponsored by the Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong Limited and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It aims to promote music making and stimulate students' creativity, and to provide a platform for them to express themselves through creative music making together with various multi-media art forms.

     Arts education can help students develop to the full in the domains of ethics, intellect, physique, social skills and aesthetics through engaging in creating, thinking, exploring and self-learning. The annual Schools Creative Music Showcase is an initiative to promote Arts Education.

     In the final performance, each primary school selects one of the three designated "Sound Projects" of this year - "Pentagonal Mysterious Ball", "Picturesque Seascape" and "Rhythm Tour" and interprets the selected project in a performance for not more than seven minutes.

     The secondary school teams present their original music with movements, mime and dance in a performance within 10 minutes. This year, all the creative projects have distinctive themes. Most attempt to bring out the message of facing life in a positive way.

     The 12 creative projects were selected in a Preliminary Selection in late November, 2005. The primary and secondary school teams participating in the Final Performance are as follows:

* Jordan Road Government Primary School
* Kau Yan School
* SKH Ching Shan Primary School (PM)

    The Chairman of the Curriculum Development Council Committee on Arts Education.  Mr Ho Kuen-fai, Principal Education Officer of Curriculum Development Institute of EMB Mr Tony Tang Fat-yuen, and the Chairman of the Hong Kong Composers' Guild Dr Joshua Chan, will present prizes to the outstanding school teams.
