LCSD works overnight to clean venues
************************************

Leisure and Cultural Services Department staff worked overnight at six of its venues in Tsim Sha Tsui and Sha Tin to ensure they were clean by this morning (January 1).

In anticipation of large crowds for New Year's Eve celebrations at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza, UC Centenary Garden, Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, Avenue of Stars, Sha Tin Park, and Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza and Podium, the LCSD deployed additional workers for rubbish collection from yesterday evening till early this morning.

The department also installed more large refuse bins and made an anti-littering appeal through broadcasting systems at these venues.

An LCSD spokesman said most people had taken heed of the appeal and properly disposed of rubbish in the litter-bins. A total of 5.22 tonnes of rubbish were cleared from litter-bins in the six venues, and 0.21 tonne was collected from the ground.
