New Year's Eve Countdown Carnival at Sha Tin
********************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present a New Year's Eve Countdown Carnival tomorrow (December 31) at Sha Tin Park and Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza and Podium. Admission is free.

The carnival starts at 8.30pm tomorrow (December 31) and runs until 12.30am Sunday (January 1).

Attractions will include movement theatre/dance, clown and magic, marching band, music and dance performances.

The carnival will reach its climax at midnight with the launch of a spectacular light show and fireworks.

The main stage in Sha Tin Park will feature a variety of entertainment including movement theatre/dance by "mimbre" from the UK, marching band, ballroom and Latin dances, live band, horoscope-telling, African and samba drum by local groups.

The dynamic acrobatics of "mimbre", the female trio, has already amazed and delighted audiences across the world. Highly trained in the techniques of acrobatics, gymnastics and other physical feats, the three are remarkedly original in their performance. Don't miss the chance to enjoy their debut in Hong Kong!

On the comic stage will be the children's show, "Where is the Happy Bird?", and a clown show.

The rhythm of hip hop, jazz and modern dance as well as Scottish pipes and drum performances will add to the excitement, while X Games will surely be a favourite among young people.

Other programmes of the carnival include a lantern display, the Andersen Garden for photo-taking and tarot card reading.

The public is urged to help keep the public areas clean and show care for public property. Aerosol sprays, metallic balloons and bottles are prohibited at the venues.
