Appeal for information on a bank robbery case in Mong Kok (with photos)

    Police today (December 23) appealed to members of the public to provide information on a suspect in a bank robbery case in Mong Kok yesterday (December 22).

     Initial enquiries revealed that a man aged about 35 approached a counter of a bank on Shanghai Street, Mong Kok at about 9.40 am yesterday and declared robbery.

     He handed to a bank teller a piece of paper written with some words claiming that he had carried a paper bag with a bomb inside and asked for fifty thousand dollars.

     The teller handed over an envelope with $1,190 cash inside to the culprit.

The culprit immediately fled away towards the direction of Shantung Street after he received the envelope.

     The man, who spoke fluent Cantonese, is about 1.7 meter tall and is of medium build. He was seen wearing a black knitted cap, white mouth mask, black long-sleeve inner clothe, yellow outer short-sleeve polo-shirt with three stripes and carrying a paper bag with blue stripes.

     Divisional Investigation Team of Mong Kok District has taken over the case for investigation. Anyone who has information on the suspect is urged to contact the investigation officers on 2398 6257 or Mong Kok Police Station on 2398 6200.
