Police are appealing to members of the public who witnessed the vessel collision in waters off Yau Ma Tei Typhoon Shelter on Wednesday (December 21) afternoon in which a 71-year-old man was killed.
Police received a report that a Mainland cargo vessel and a lighter were found collided in waters off Yau Ma Tei Typhoon Shelter at about 1.15pm on Wednesday.
Following the impact, a 71-year-old owner of the local lighter was injured and fell into the waters. Police arrived at scene immediately rescued the man and sent him to Kwong Wah Hospital where he was certified dead at 2.02pm the same day.
Anyone who has witnessed the incident or has information to offer is also urged to contact investigating officers of Regional Crime Unit, Marine Police on 2803 6156.
