The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) smashed an unlicensed food factory in Tai Po during a blitz operation this afternoon (December 21).

A 53-year-old man was arrested and charged with operating an unlicensed food factory and failing to keep the premises in a clean condition.

In the blitz operation, FEHD officers found the illegal food business in operation at premises comprising two store rooms at Kwong Fuk Estate Market. The officers seized 115 cooked chickens, five cooked pigeons, two raw ducks, and about 27 kilogrammes of cooked meat, plus some cooking paraphernalia.

An FEHD spokesman said the department would continue to take stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food business to safeguard public health.
