TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
 
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
 
THE STRONG WIND SIGNAL, NO. 3 IS IN FORCE.
 
THIS MEANS THAT WINDS WITH MEAN SPEEDS OF 41 TO 62
KILOMETRES PER HOUR ARE EXPECTED.
 
AT 9 P.M., SEVERE TROPICAL STORM TRAMI WAS ESTIMATED TO BE
ABOUT 700 KILOMETRES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF HONG KONG (NEAR
17.0 DEGREES NORTH 110.5 DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO
MOVE WEST-SOUTHWEST AT ABOUT 15 KILOMETRES PER HOUR TOWARD
THE COAST OF CENTRAL VIETNAM.


 
IN THE PAST COUPLE OF HOURS, THE OUTER RAINBANDS ASSOCIATED
WITH TRAMI BROUGHT SQUALLS TO THE SEAS SOUTH OF HONG KONG
AND ARE EDGING CLOSER TO THE VICINITY OF THE PEARL RIVER
ESTUARY GRADUALLY. WITH TRAMI MOVING AWAY FROM HONG KONG
AND WEAKENING, LOCAL WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO MODERATE
GRADUALLY OVERNIGHT. DEPENDING ON THE CHANGES IN LOCAL WIND
CONDITIONS, THE OBSERVATORY WILL CONSIDER ISSUING THE
STANDBY SIGNAL, NO.1 BY THEN.
 
SEAS WILL BE ROUGH WITH SWELLS. MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ARE
ADVISED TO STAY AWAY FROM THE SHORELINE AND NOT TO ENGAGE
IN WATER SPORTS.

1. PLEASE COMPLETE PRECAUTIONS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. MAKE
SURE OBJECTS LIKELY TO BE BLOWN AWAY ARE SECURELY FASTENED
OR TAKEN INDOORS. CHECK IF ALL WINDOWS AND DOORS CAN BE
SECURELY LOCKED.
 
2. DRAINS SHOULD BE CLEARED OF LEAVES AND RUBBISH.
 
3. AVOID STAYING IN AREAS EXPOSED TO HIGH WINDS. DRIVERS
USING HIGHWAYS AND FLYOVERS SHOULD BE ALERT TO VIOLENT
GUSTS.
 
4. STRONG WINDS ARE STILL BLOWING. YOU SHOULD NOT RELAX
TAKING PRECAUTIONS. BEWARE OF FALLING OBJECTS IN WINDS. DO
NOT TOUCH ELECTRIC CABLES THAT HAVE BEEN BLOWN LOOSE.
