TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
THE STRONG WIND SIGNAL, NO. 3 IS IN FORCE.
THIS MEANS THAT WINDS WITH MEAN SPEEDS OF 41 TO 62
KILOMETRES PER HOUR ARE EXPECTED.
AT 5 A.M., SUPER TYPHOON YAGI WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT 400
KILOMETRES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 19.1 DEGREES
NORTH 116.0 DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE WEST AT
ABOUT 12 KILOMETRES PER HOUR ACROSS THE NORTHERN PART OF
THE SOUTH CHINA SEA AND CONTINUE TO INTENSIFY.
IN THE PAST FEW HOURS, YAGI CONTINUED TO TRACK WESTWARDS
AND ITS ASSOCIATED OUTER RAINBANDS MOVED TOWARDS THE
VICINITY OF THE PEARL RIVER ESTUARY GRADUALLY. STRONG WINDS
ARE AFFECTING OFFSHORE WATERS AND HIGH GROUND. THE STRONG
WIND SIGNAL, NO.3, WILL REMAIN IN FORCE AT LEAST UNTIL NOON
TODAY. IF YAGI MOVES ACCORDING TO THE PRESENT FORECAST
TRACK AND CONTINUES TO INTENSIFY, LOCAL WINDS ARE EXPECTED
TO FURTHER STRENGTHEN LATER TODAY. THE OBSERVATORY MAY NEED
TO ISSUE HIGHER TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING SIGNALS BETWEEN
TODAY AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.
SEAS WILL BE ROUGH WITH SWELLS. MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC
SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM THE SHORELINE AND NOT ENGAGE IN WATER
SPORTS.
IN THE PAST HOUR, THE MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS RECORDED AT
WAGLAN ISLAND, CHEUNG CHAU BEACH AND TATE'S CAIRN WERE 54,
50 AND 45 KILOMETRES PER HOUR WITH MAXIMUM GUSTS EXCEEDING
63, 61 AND 65 KILOMETRES PER HOUR RESPECTIVELY.

2. DRAINS SHOULD BE CLEARED OF LEAVES AND RUBBISH. PEOPLE
IN LOW-LYING AREAS SHOULD TAKE PRECAUTIONS AGAINST FLOODING.
3. OWING TO STORM SURGE, SOME LOW-LYING AREAS MAY HAVE
FLOODING OR BACKFLOW OF SEAWATER. PLEASE TAKE PRECAUTIONS,
AND STAY AWAY FROM DANGEROUS PLACES.
4. AVOID STAYING IN AREAS EXPOSED TO HIGH WINDS. DRIVERS
USING HIGHWAYS AND FLYOVERS SHOULD BE ALERT TO VIOLENT
GUSTS.
5. SMALL VESSELS NOT YET IN TYPHOON SHELTERS SHOULD SEEK
SHELTER WITHOUT DELAY. USE HEAVY ANCHORS AND CHECK THAT ALL
DECK FITTINGS ARE FIRMLY FASTENED.
