HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.
GENERAL SITUATION
WINDS WERE WEAK AND THE WEATHER WAS MAINLY FINE OVER THE
COAST OF GUANGDONG YESTERDAY. LOCALLY, IT WAS MAINLY FINE
AND VERY HOT. TEMPERATURES OVER THE TERRITORY GENERALLY
ROSE TO 33 DEGREES OR ABOVE. THERE WERE ISOLATED SHOWERS IN
THE AFTERNOON, AROUND 10 MILLIMETRES OF RAINFALL WERE
RECORDED OVER SHA TIN. THE WEATHER WILL STILL BE VERY HOT
OVER GUANGDONG IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. HIGH
TEMPERATURES WILL ALSO TRIGGER SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
BESIDES, SEVERE TROPICAL STORM SHANSHAN INTENSIFIED INTO A
TYPHOON YESTERDAY. AT 11 P.M. LAST NIGHT, SHANSHAN WAS
CENTRED ABOUT 740 KILOMETRES SOUTHEAST OF KAGOSHIMA. IT IS
FORECAST TO MOVE WEST-NORTHWEST AT ABOUT 22 KILOMETRES PER
HOUR ACROSS THE SEAS SOUTH OF JAPAN, AND CONTINUE TO
INTENSIFY.
WEATHER FORECAST FOR HONG KONG (MONDAY, 26 AUG 2024)
CLOUDY PERIODS IN THE MORNING, THE MINIMUM TEMPERATURE WILL
BE ABOUT 28 DEGREES. ISOLATED SHOWERS. MAINLY FINE AND VERY
HOT DURING THE DAY WITH A MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF AROUND 33
DEGREES IN THE URBAN AREAS, AND A COUPLE OF DEGREES HIGHER
