LOCAL WEATHER FORECAST

HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.


 
GENERAL SITUATION


SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH A BROAD TROUGH OF
LOW PRESSURE AFFECTED THE COAST OF GUANGDONG AND THE
NORTHERN PART OF THE SOUTH CHINA SEA YESTERDAY. LOCALLY, IT
WAS CLOUDY WITH OCCASIONAL SHOWERS AND A FEW SQUALLY
THUNDERSTORMS. MORE THAN 20 MILLIMETRES OF RAINFALL WERE
RECORDED OVER MANY PLACES. THE TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE WILL
CONTINUE TO BRING SHOWERS AND SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS TO THE
COAST OF SOUTHERN CHINA AND THE NORTHERN PART OF THE SOUTH
CHINA SEA TODAY. SHOWERS WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES. WITH AN
ANTICYCLONE ALOFT STRENGTHENING, THE WEATHER WILL IMPROVE
AND IT WILL BE VERY HOT OVER GUANGDONG IN THE LATTER PART
OF THIS WEEK.


 
BESIDES, JONGDARI INTENSIFIED INTO A TROPICAL STORM IN THE
EAST CHINA SEA YESTERDAY MORNING. THEN IT WEAKENED INTO A
TROPICAL DEPRESSION IN THE YELLOW SEA LAST NIGHT. AT 11
P.M. LAST NIGHT, JONGDARI WAS CENTRED ABOUT 290 KILOMETRES
SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF SEOUL. IT IS FORECAST TO MOVE
NORTH-NORTHEAST AT ABOUT 30 KILOMETRES PER HOUR ACROSS THE
YELLOW SEA TOWARDS THE VICINITY OF THE KOREAN PENINSULA,
AND CONTINUE TO WEAKEN.


 
WEATHER FORECAST FOR HONG KONG


 
MAINLY CLOUDY WITH OCCASIONAL SHOWERS AND A FEW SQUALLY
THUNDERSTORMS. SHOWERS WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES IN THE
MORNING, SHOWERS WILL EASE OFF AT NIGHT. TEMPERATURES WILL
RANGE BETWEEN 25 AND 29 DEGREES. MODERATE TO FRESH
SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS, OCCASIONALLY STRONG OFFSHORE AND ON
HIGH GROUND AT FIRST.


 
OUTLOOK : STILL A FEW SHOWERS ON THURSDAY. VERY HOT DURING
THE DAY WITH SUNNY PERIODS IN THE FOLLOWING COUPLE OF DAYS.
