TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
THE STANDBY SIGNAL, NO. 1 IS IN FORCE.
AT 10 A.M., TROPICAL STORM PRAPIROON WAS ESTIMATED TO BE
ABOUT 610 KILOMETRES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 19.6
DEGREES NORTH 109.1 DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE
NORTHWEST AT ABOUT 14 KILOMETRES PER HOUR ENTERING AND
MOVING ACROSS BEIBU WAN.
PRAPIROON STARTED TO DEPART FROM HONG KONG. HOWEVER, THE
BANDS OF THUNDERY SHOWERS ASSOCIATED WITH ITS OUTER
CIRCULATION ARE AFFECTING THE VICINITY OF THE PEARL RIVER
ESTUARY. LOCALLY, WINDS ARE STILL OCCASIONALLY STRONG
OFFSHORE AND ON HIGH GROUND AT FIRST TODAY. WHEN PRAPIROON
NO LONGER POSES A THREAT TO THE TERRITORY, THE OBSERVATORY
WILL CANCEL ALL TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING SIGNALS.
THERE ARE SWELLS. MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ARE ADVISED TO STAY
AWAY FROM THE SHORELINE, NOT TO ENGAGE IN WATER SPORTS AND
TAKE NOTE OF THE LATEST WEATHER INFORMATION.
(PRECAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENTS WITH NO. 1 SIGNAL)
1. PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN. DRAINS SHOULD BE CLEARED OF
OBSTRUCTIONS, AND WINDOWS AND DOORS SHOULD BE CHECKED.
2. PEOPLE IN AREAS OF EXPOSED TO HIGH WINDS OR IN LOW-LYING
AREAS SHOULD TAKE PRECAUTIONS AGAINST STRONG WINDS AND
FLOODING.
3. STRONG WINDS ARE STILL BLOWING OVER OFFSHORE WATERS.
SMALL VESSELS SHOULD REMAIN IN SHELTER AND PRECAUTIONS
SHOULD NOT YET BE RELAXED.
