LOCAL WEATHER FORECAST

HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.


 
GENERAL SITUATION


TROPICAL CYCLONE KOINU MOVED ACROSS THE WESTERN COAST OF
GUANGDONG YESTERDAY AND WEAKENED FROM A TYPHOON INTO AN
AREA OF LOW PRESSURE PROGRESSIVELY. LOCALLY, THERE WERE
HEAVY SQUALLY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. MORE THAN 300
MILLIMETRES OF RAINFALL WERE RECORDED OVER MANY PLACES. THE
OUTER RAINBANDS ASSOCIATED WITH THE REMNANT OF KOINU WILL
CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE NORTHERN PART OF THE SOUTH CHINA SEA
TODAY. A FRESH TO STRONG NORTHEAST MONSOON WILL ALSO AFFECT
THE COAST OF GUANGDONG. UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF A DRY
NORTHEAST MONSOON, THE WEATHER WILL BECOME FINE OVER
SOUTHERN CHINA IN THE MIDDLE AND LATTER PARTS OF THIS WEEK.
THE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DAY AND NIGHT WILL BE
RELATIVELY LARGE.


 
WEATHER FORECAST FOR HONG KONG


 
CLOUDY WITH SHOWERS AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS. SHOWERS WILL
EASE OFF LATER. TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE BETWEEN 24 AND 28
DEGREES. MODERATE TO FRESH EAST TO NORTHEASTERLY WINDS,
OCCASIONALLY STRONG OFFSHORE AND ON HIGH GROUND.


 
OUTLOOK : SUNNY PERIODS IN THE FOLLOWING FEW DAYS. DRY
DURING THE DAY.
