LOCAL WEATHER FORECAST

HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.


 
GENERAL SITUATION


THE OUTER SUBSIDING AIR OF TROPICAL CYCLONE KOINU BROUGHT
MAINLY FINE AND EXTREMELY HOT WEATHER TO SOUTHERN CHINA
YESTERDAY. LOCALLY, THERE WERE SUNNY PERIODS. THE MAXIMUM
TEMPERATURE RECORDED AT THE OBSERVATORY IN THE AFTERNOON
WAS 34.6 DEGREES, THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE ON RECORD FOR
OCTOBER. KOINU IS EXPECTED TO SKIRT THE SOUTHERN PART OF
TAIWAN AND MOVE TOWARDS THE COASTAL WATERS OF EASTERN
GUANGDONG TODAY. ITS OUTER SUBSIDING AIR WILL CONTINUE TO
BRING VERY HOT WEATHER TO THE COAST OF SOUTHERN CHINA.
KOINU WILL EDGE CLOSER TO THE VICINITY OF THE PEARL RIVER
ESTUARY IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.


 
WEATHER FORECAST FOR HONG KONG


 
MAINLY FINE APART FROM ISOLATED SHOWERS. CLOUDY PERIODS IN
THE MORNING AND AT NIGHT. THE MINIMUM TEMPERATURE WILL BE
ABOUT 28 DEGREES. VERY HOT AND DRY DURING THE DAY WITH A
MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF AROUND 34 DEGREES IN THE URBAN
AREAS, AND A COUPLE OF DEGREES HIGHER IN THE NEW
TERRITORIES. LIGHT WINDS, BECOMING MODERATE TO FRESH
NORTHERLY WINDS, OCCASIONALLY STRONG ON HIGH GROUND.


 
OUTLOOK : WINDIER IN THE FOLLOWING COUPLE OF DAYS. IT WILL
BE APPRECIABLY COOLER WITH SHOWERS OVER THE WEEKEND.
