LOCAL WEATHER FORECAST

HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.


 
GENERAL SITUATION


A TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE BROUGHT DOWNPOURS AND
THUNDERSTORMS TO THE PEARL RIVER ESTUARY YESTERDAY.
LOCALLY, IT WAS CLOUDY WITH HEAVY RAIN AND SQUALLY
THUNDERSTORMS. AROUND 300 MILLIMETRES OF RAINFALL WERE
GENERALLY RECORDED OVER THE TERRITORY. THE OBSERVATORY
HEADQUARTERS RECORDED HOURLY RAINFALL OF 158.1 MM BETWEEN
11 P.M. ON 7 SEPTEMBER AND MIDNIGHT, WHICH WAS THE HIGHEST
RECORD SINCE 1884. UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF THE TROUGH OF LOW
PRESSURE, THERE WILL BE OCCASIONAL HEAVY SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE COAST OF GUANGDONG TODAY AND
TOMORROW.


 
BESIDES, TROPICAL STORM YUN-YEUNG WEAKENED INTO A TROPICAL
DEPRESSION YESTERDAY. AT 11 P.M. LAST NIGHT, YUN-YEUNG WAS
CENTRED ABOUT 260 KILOMETRES SOUTHWEST OF TOKYO. IT IS
FORECAST TO MOVE NORTH-NORTHEAST OR NORTHEAST AT ABOUT 10
KILOMETRES PER HOUR TOWARDS HONSHU OF JAPAN.


 
WEATHER FORECAST FOR HONG KONG


 
CLOUDY WITH SHOWERS AND SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS. SHOWERS WILL
BE HEAVY AT TIMES. TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE BETWEEN 25 AND
29 DEGREES. MODERATE EAST TO SOUTHEASTERLY WINDS.


 
OUTLOOK : THERE WILL STILL BE HEAVY SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ON SUNDAY. SHOWERS WILL EASE OFF GRADUALLY
AND THE WEATHER WILL IMPROVE SLIGHTLY EARLY NEXT WEEK.
