TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
THE STANDBY SIGNAL, NO. 1 IS IN FORCE.
THIS MEANS THAT A TROPICAL CYCLONE NOW CENTRED WITHIN ABOUT
800 KILOMETRES OF HONG KONG MAY AFFECT US.
AT 10 A.M., SUPER TYPHOON DOKSURI WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT
530 KILOMETRES EAST-NORTHEAST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 24.5
DEGREES NORTH 118.8 DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE
NORTH-NORTHWEST AT ABOUT 28 KILOMETRES PER HOUR EDGING
CLOSER TO THE VICINITY OF XIAMEN IN FUJIAN.
DOKSURI WILL MAKE LANDFALL NEAR XIAMEN SHORTLY, THEN MOVE
INLAND AND WEAKEN GRADUALLY. WHEN IT NO LONGER POSES A
THREAT TO HONG KONG, THE OBSERVATORY WILL CANCEL ALL THE
TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING SIGNALS. THERE WILL BE SWELLS.
MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM THE SHORELINE,
AND NOT ENGAGE IN WATER SPORTS.
LOCALLY, THE WEATHER WILL STILL BE VERY HOT TODAY. HOWEVER,
SHOWERS AND SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH DOKSURI
WILL ALSO AFFECT THE COAST OF GUANGDONG LATER TODAY.
AN ACTIVE SOUTHWESTERLY AIRSTREAM IS EXPECTED TO AFFECT THE
COAST OF GUANGDONG TONIGHT TO TOMORROW (28 - 29 JULY).
SHOWERS WILL BE MORE FREQUENT WITH SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS IN
HONG KONG. THE PUBLIC SHOULD TAKE NOTE OF THE LATEST
WEATHER FORECAST.
