TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
THE STANDBY SIGNAL, NO. 1 IS IN FORCE.
THIS MEANS THAT A TROPICAL CYCLONE NOW CENTRED WITHIN ABOUT
800 KILOMETRES OF HONG KONG MAY AFFECT US.
AT 8 A.M., SUPER TYPHOON DOKSURI WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT
520 KILOMETRES EAST-NORTHEAST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 24.1
DEGREES NORTH 118.9 DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE
NORTH-NORTHWEST AT ABOUT 28 KILOMETRES PER HOUR EDGING
CLOSER TO THE VICINITY OF XIAMEN IN FUJIAN.
DOKSURI HAS TAKEN A MORE EASTERLY TRACK THIS MORNING,
LOCATED AT AROUND 500 KILOMETRES TO THE EAST OF HONG KONG,
AND WILL GRADUALLY DEPART FROM THE TERRITORY. ACCORDING TO
THE PRESENT FORECAST, DOKSURI WILL MAKE LANDFALL IN THE
VICINITY OF XIAMEN IN FUJIAN IN THE NEXT FEW HOURS. IT WILL
THEN MOVE INLAND AND WEAKEN GRADUALLY. WHEN DOKSURI NO
LONGER POSES A THREAT TO HONG KONG, THE OBSERVATORY WILL
CANCEL ALL TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING SIGNALS. THERE WILL BE
SWELLS. MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM THE
SHORELINE, AND NOT ENGAGE IN WATER SPORTS.
LOCALLY, THE WEATHER WILL STILL BE VERY HOT TODAY. HOWEVER,
SHOWERS AND SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH DOKSURI
ARE ALSO AFFECTING THE COAST OF GUANGDONG AND THE ADJACENT
WATERS.
AN ACTIVE SOUTHWESTERLY AIRSTREAM IS EXPECTED TO AFFECT THE
COAST OF GUANGDONG TONIGHT TO TOMORROW (28-29 JULY).
SHOWERS WILL GRADUALLY BECOME MORE FREQUENT WITH SQUALLY
THUNDERSTORMS IN HONG KONG. THE PUBLIC SHOULD TAKE NOTE OF
THE LATEST WEATHER FORECAST.
