THIS MEANS THAT A TROPICAL CYCLONE NOW CENTRED WITHIN ABOUT

AT 7 P.M., TROPICAL STORM TALIM WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT
550 KILOMETRES SOUTHEAST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 18.4 DEGREES

WEST-NORTHWEST AT ABOUT 10 KILOMETRES PER HOUR IN THE

AND INTENSIFY GRADUALLY.

UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF THE SUBSIDENCE ASSOCIATED WITH
TALIM, IT WAS EXTREMELY HOT OVER THE COAST OF GUANGDONG
THIS AFTERNOON. LOCALLY, TEMPERATURES ROSE GENERALLY TO 36
DEGREES OR ABOVE IN THE NEW TERRITORIES, BUT THERE WERE
ALSO A FEW SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS TRIGGERED BY HIGH

PART OF THE NEW TERRITORIES AND LANTAU ISLAND.

TALIM IS EXPECTED TO EDGE GRADUALLY CLOSER TO THE COAST OF
WESTERN GUANGDONG TOMORROW (16 JULY) AND STRENGTHEN
FURTHER. LOCAL WEATHER WILL DETERIORATE PROGRESSIVELY
TOMORROW AND WINDS WILL STRENGTHEN. SEAS WILL BE ROUGH
WITH SWELLS. THE OBSERVATORY WILL CONSIDER ISSUING THE
STRONG WIND SIGNAL, NO. 3 BEFORE 6 A.M. TOMORROW.
ACCORDING TO THE PRESENT FORECAST TRACK, GALES ASSOCIATED
