HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.


 
GENERAL SITUATION


UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF THE AREA OF INTENSE THUNDERY SHOWERS
MOVING SOUTHWARDS FROM INLAND GUANGDONG, THERE WERE HEAVY
SHOWERS AND SEVERE SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS OVER HONG KONG
YESTERDAY MORNING. MORE THAN 30 MILLIMETRES OF RAINFALL
WERE RECORDED OVER MANY PLACES, AND RAINFALL EVEN EXCEEDED
50 MILLIMETRES OVER TUEN MUN AND SAI KUNG. BESIDES, MORE
THAN 10000 STROKES OF CLOUD-TO-GROUND LIGHTNING WERE
RECORDED WITHIN HONG KONG. WITH THE AREA OF INTENSE
THUNDERY SHOWERS DEPARTING, THERE WERE SUNNY PERIODS IN THE
AFTERNOON. UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF AN ANTICYCLONE ALOFT, IT
WILL BE VERY HOT OVER SOUTHERN CHINA TODAY.


 
AT 11 P.M. LAST NIGHT, SEVERE TROPICAL STORM MAWAR WAS
CENTRED ABOUT 20 KILOMETRES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF OKINAWA. IT
IS FORECAST TO MOVE NORTHEAST AT ABOUT 25 KILOMETRES PER
HOUR ACROSS THE VICINITY OF THE RYUKYU ISLANDS.


 
WEATHER FORECAST FOR HONG KONG


 
MAINLY CLOUDY WITH A FEW SHOWERS. SHOWERS WILL BE HEAVIER
OVER SOME AREAS WITH THUNDERSTORMS AT FIRST. THE MINIMUM
TEMPERATURE WILL BE ABOUT 27 DEGREES. VERY HOT WITH SUNNY
PERIODS DURING THE DAY WITH A MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF AROUND
33 DEGREES. LIGHT WINDS.


 
OUTLOOK : SUNNY INTERVALS AND A FEW SHOWERS IN THE
