TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
THE STANDBY SIGNAL, NO. 1 WAS ISSUED AT 2:10 P.M.
AT 2 P.M., SEVERE TROPICAL STORM MA-ON WAS ESTIMATED TO BE
ABOUT 380 KILOMETRES WEST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 21.7 DEGREES
NORTH 110.6 DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE WEST OR
WEST-NORTHWEST AT ABOUT 28 KILOMETRES PER HOUR INTO INLAND
GUANGXI AND WEAKEN GRADUALLY.
WITH MA-ON MOVING INTO INLAND GUANGXI AND WEAKENING
GRADUALLY, LOCAL WINDS CONTINUE TO MODERATE BUT OCCASIONAL
STRONG WINDS ARE STILL AFFECTING THE HIGH GROUND IN THE
TERRITORY IN THE EARLY AFTERNOON. WHEN MA-ON NO LONGER
POSES A THREAT TO HONG KONG, THE OBSERVATORY WILL CANCEL
ALL TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING SIGNALS.
THERE WILL BE SWELLS. MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ARE ADVISED TO
STAY AWAY FROM THE SHORELINE, AND NOT TO ENGAGE IN WATER
SPORTS.
