TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
THE STANDBY SIGNAL, NO. 1 IS IN FORCE.
THIS MEANS THAT A TROPICAL CYCLONE NOW CENTRED WITHIN ABOUT
800 KILOMETRES OF HONG KONG MAY AFFECT US.
AT 5 A.M., THE TROPICAL DEPRESSION OVER THE NORTHEASTERN
PART OF THE SOUTH CHINA SEA WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT 130
KILOMETRES EAST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 22.2 DEGREES NORTH 115.4
DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE WEST-NORTHWEST AT
ABOUT 20 KILOMETRES PER HOUR EDGING CLOSER TO THE VICINITY
OF THE PEARL RIVER ESTUARY.
THE TROPICAL DEPRESSION MOVED WESTWARDS STEADILY IN THE
PAST FEW HOURS. AS THE TROPICAL DEPRESSION CONTINUES TO
EDGE CLOSER TO THE VICINITY OF THE PEARL RIVER ESTUARY,
LOCAL WINDS WOULD STRENGTHEN AT AROUND NOON TODAY. UNLESS
THE TROPICAL DEPRESSION INTENSIFIES SIGNIFICANTLY, THE
STANDBY SIGNAL, NO. 1 WILL REMAIN IN FORCE UNTIL AT LEAST
10 A.M. TODAY. THE OUTER RAINBANDS ASSOCIATED WITH THE
TROPICAL DEPRESSION WILL CONTINUE TO BRING SQUALLY HEAVY
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO THE COAST OF GUANGDONG TODAY.
(PRECAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENTS WITH NO. 1 SIGNAL)
1. DRAINS SHOULD BE CLEARED OF LEAVES AND RUBBISH. PEOPLE
IN LOW-LYING AREAS SHOULD TAKE PRECAUTIONS AGAINST FLOODING.
2. THOSE WHO HAVE DUTIES DURING A TROPICAL CYCLONE SHOULD
NOW REMAIN ON CALL.
3. THERE MAY BE SWELLS. YOU ARE ADVISED TO STAY AWAY FROM
THE SHORELINE AND NOT TO ENGAGE IN WATER SPORTS.
4. LISTEN TO RADIO, WATCH TV OR BROWSE THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY'S WEBSITE AND MOBILE APP FOR THE LATEST
