TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
 
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
 
THE STANDBY SIGNAL, NO. 1 IS IN FORCE.
 
THIS MEANS THAT A TROPICAL CYCLONE NOW CENTRED WITHIN ABOUT
800 KILOMETRES OF HONG KONG MAY AFFECT US.
 
AT 11 P.M., THE TROPICAL DEPRESSION OVER THE CENTRAL PART
OF THE SOUTH CHINA SEA WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT 730
KILOMETRES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 15.9 DEGREES
NORTH 116.0 DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE
NORTH-NORTHWEST AT ABOUT 10 KILOMETRES PER HOUR IN THE
GENERAL DIRECTION OF THE COAST OF WESTERN GUANGDONG.


 
ACCORDING TO THE PRESENT FORECAST TRACK, THE TROPICAL
DEPRESSION WILL REMAIN AT A DISTANCE OVER 500 KILOMETRES
FROM HONG KONG TONIGHT (29 JUNE) AND TOMORROW MORNING.
LOCAL WINDS ARE NOT EXPECTED TO STRENGTHEN SIGNIFICANTLY.
THE STANDBY SIGNAL, NO. 1 WILL REMAIN IN FORCE BEFORE NOON
TOMORROW. AS THE TROPICAL DEPRESSION GRADUALLY EDGES CLOSER
TO THE COAST OF WESTERN GUANGDONG, ITS OUTER RAINBANDS WILL
AFFECT THE TERRITORY TOMORROW. SHOWERS WILL BECOME FREQUENT
WITH SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS. LOCAL WINDS WILL BE STRONG
OFFSHORE AND ON HIGH GROUND LATER TOMORROW.
 
THERE WILL BE SWELLS. MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC SHOULD STAY
AWAY FROM THE SHORELINE, AND NOT TO ENGAGE IN WATER SPORTS.


 
(PRECAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENTS WITH NO. 1 SIGNAL)
 
1. PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN. DRAINS SHOULD BE CLEARED OF
OBSTRUCTIONS, AND WINDOWS AND DOORS SHOULD BE CHECKED.
 
2. PEOPLE IN AREAS OF EXPOSED TO HIGH WINDS OR IN LOW-LYING
AREAS SHOULD TAKE PRECAUTIONS AGAINST STRONG WINDS AND
FLOODING.
 
3. THOSE WHO HAVE DUTIES DURING A TROPICAL CYCLONE SHOULD
NOW REMAIN ON CALL.
 
4. FISHING VESSELS AND LOW POWER VESSELS IN OPEN SEA SHOULD
SEEK SHELTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND BE SECURED PROPERLY
WITH MOORINGS.
 
5. LISTEN TO RADIO, WATCH TV OR BROWSE THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY'S WEBSITE AND MOBILE APP FOR THE LATEST
INFORMATION ON THE TROPICAL CYCLONE.
