HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.
GENERAL SITUATION
THE TROPICAL DEPRESSION OVER THE NORTHERN PART OF THE SOUTH
CHINA SEA MOVED ACROSS HAINAN ISLAND AND THEN ENTERED BEIBU
WAN YESTERDAY. ITS ASSOCIATED RAINBANDS AFFECTED GUANGDONG.
MEANWHILE, THE SUBTROPICAL RIDGE COVERING THE COAST OF
SOUTHEASTERN CHINA EXTENDED WESTWARDS. LOCALLY, THERE WERE
OCCASIONAL SQUALLY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AT FIRST. MORE
THAN 10 MILLIMETRES OF RAINFALL WERE RECORDED OVER MOST
PARTS OF THE TERRITORY. SHOWERS LESSENED GRADUALLY DURING
THE DAY AND IT WAS VERY HOT WITH SUNNY INTERVALS. THE
SUBTROPICAL RIDGE IS EXPECTED TO BRING MAINLY FINE AND VERY
HOT WEATHER TO THE COAST OF GUANGDONG IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
AT 11 P.M. LAST NIGHT, THE TROPICAL DEPRESSION WAS CENTRED
ABOUT 240 KILOMETRES SOUTHEAST OF HANOI. IT IS FORECAST TO
MOVE WEST-NORTHWEST AT ABOUT 25 KILOMETRES PER HOUR TOWARDS
THE NORTHERN PART OF VIETNAM.
WEATHER FORECAST FOR HONG KONG (THURSDAY, 8 JUL 2021)
MAINLY FINE APART FROM ISOLATED SHOWERS. THE MINIMUM
TEMPERATURE WILL BE ABOUT 28 DEGREES. VERY HOT DURING THE
DAY. THE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE WILL BE AROUND 33 DEGREES IN
THE URBAN AREAS, AND A COUPLE OF DEGREES HIGHER IN THE NEW
TERRITORIES. MODERATE SOUTHEASTERLY WINDS, OCCASIONALLY
FRESH AT FIRST.
