HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.
GENERAL SITUATION
TROPICAL CYCLONE NANGKA MOVED ACROSS THE NORTHERN PART OF
THE SOUTH CHINA SEA YESTERDAY AND MADE LANDFALL OVER HAINAN
ISLAND AT NIGHT. LOCALLY, IT WAS CLOUDY WITH RAIN. WINDS
STRENGTHENED DURING THE DAY. GALE FORCE WINDS AFFECTED THE
OFFSHORE WATERS AND THE HIGH GROUND IN THE TERRITORY. WINDS
WERE GENERALLY STRONGER OVER THE SOUTHERN PART OF HONG
KONG. GALE FORCE WINDS WERE RECORDED AT GREEN ISLAND IN THE
VICTORIA HARBOUR. NANGKA WILL MOVE ACROSS THE VICINITY OF
HAINAN ISLAND AND BEIBU WAN TODAY. UNDER THE COMBINED
EFFECT OF NANGKA AND THE NORTHEAST MONSOON, THERE WILL BE
HIGH WINDS, HEAVY RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE SOUTH
CHINA COAST. SEAS WILL BE VERY ROUGH WITH SWELLS. BESIDES,
THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE SEAS EAST OF THE
PHILIPPINES BROUGHT UNSETTLED WEATHER TO THE REGION TODAY.
IT IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP INTO TROPICAL CYCLONE IN THE NEXT
COUPLE OF DAYS.
WEATHER FORECAST FOR HONG KONG (WEDNESDAY, 14 OCT 2020)
FRESH TO STRONG EASTERLY WINDS, OCCASIONALLY GALE FORCE
OFFSHORE AND ON HIGH GROUND AT FIRST. CLOUDY WITH RAIN AND
A FEW SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS. RAIN WILL EASE OFF DURING THE
DAY. TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE BETWEEN 24 AND 28 DEGREES.
SEAS WILL BE VERY ROUGH WITH SWELLS.
