TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
THE STRONG WIND SIGNAL, NO. 3 IS IN FORCE.
THIS MEANS THAT WINDS WITH MEAN SPEEDS OF 41 TO 62
KILOMETRES PER HOUR ARE EXPECTED.
AT 4 A.M., TROPICAL STORM BARIJAT WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT
300 KILOMETRES SOUTHWEST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 20.8 DEGREES
NORTH 111.8 DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE WEST AT
ABOUT 22 KILOMETRES PER HOUR TOWARDS THE VICINITY OF
LEIZHOU PENINSULA.
IN THE PAST FEW HOURS, BARIJAT CONTINUED TO MOVE WESTWARD
AWAY FROM HONG KONG. LOCALLY, WINDS ARE MODERATING
GRADUALLY. THE OBSERVATORY WILL ISSUE THE STANDBY SIGNAL,
NO. 1 SHORTLY. WINDS WILL REMAIN OCCASIONALLY STRONG
OFFSHORE AND ON HIGH GROUND AT FIRST TODAY. MEMBERS OF THE
PUBLIC SHOULD REMAIN ON THE ALERT.
