TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
THE STRONG WIND SIGNAL, NO. 3 IS IN FORCE.
THIS MEANS THAT WINDS WITH MEAN SPEEDS OF 41 TO 62
KILOMETRES PER HOUR ARE EXPECTED.
AT 2 A.M., TROPICAL STORM BARIJAT WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT
260 KILOMETRES SOUTHWEST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 20.8 DEGREES
NORTH 112.3 DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE WEST AT
ABOUT 20 KILOMETRES PER HOUR TOWARDS THE VICINITY OF
LEIZHOU PENINSULA.
IN THE PAST FEW HOURS, BARIJAT CONTINUED TO TRACK WESTWARDS
STEADILY AND MOVE AWAY FROM HONG KONG. HOWEVER, THE STRONG
WINDS ASSOCIATED WITH BARIJAT WILL STILL AFFECT THE PEARL
RIVER ESTUARY AT FIRST TODAY. STRONG WIND SIGNAL, NO. 3
WILL REMAIN IN FORCE FOR SOME TIME. LOCAL WINDS WILL
GRADUALLY WEAKEN LATER TODAY. THE PUBLIC IS ADVISED TO TAKE
