HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.
GENERAL SITUATION
CONVECTIONS TRIGGERED BY HIGH TEMPERATURES BROUGHT THUNDERY
SHOWERS TO GUANGDONG YESTERDAY. LOCALLY, IT WAS VERY HOT
WITH SUNNY PERIODS. TEMPERATURES OVER MANY PLACES ROSE TO
33 DEGREES OR ABOVE. THUNDERY SHOWERS IN THE AFTERNOON
BROUGHT MORE THAN 30 MILLIMETRES OF RAINFALL TO PARTS OF
NEW TERRITORIES WEST, AND RAINFALL EVEN EXCEEDED 100
MILLIMETRES OVER SOUTHWESTERN PART OF LANTAU ISLAND.
BESIDES, A BROAD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE CENTRAL PART
OF THE SOUTH CHINA SEA BROUGHT UNSETTLED WEATHER TO THE
REGION YESTERDAY. UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF AN ANTICYCLONE
ALOFT, IT WILL BE VERY HOT OVER SOUTHEASTERN CHINA TODAY.
THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE EAST OF THE PHILIPPINES OVER THE
WESTERN NORTH PACIFIC INTENSIFIED INTO A TROPICAL
DEPRESSION YESTERDAY. AT 11 P.M. LAST NIGHT, THE TROPICAL
DEPRESSION WAS CENTRED ABOUT 950 KILOMETRES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST
OF OKINAWA. IT IS FORECAST TO MOVE NORTH SLOWLY, LINGERING
OVER THE WESTERN NORTH PACIFIC.

MAINLY CLOUDY WITH ISOLATED SHOWERS. VERY HOT WITH SUNNY
