GENERAL SITUATION


AN ANTICYCLONE ALOFT BROUGHT MAINLY FINE WEATHER TO
SOUTHEASTERN CHINA YESTERDAY. LOCALLY, IT WAS FINE AND VERY
HOT. TEMPERATURES OVER MOST PARTS OF THE TERRITORY ROSE TO
33 DEGREES OR ABOVE, AND SHOWERS TRIGGERED BY HIGH
TEMPERATURES BROUGHT A FEW MILLIMETRES OF RAINFALL TO TA
KWU LING. THE ANTICYCLONE ALOFT WILL CONTINUE TO BRING
MAINLY FINE AND VERY HOT WEATHER TO SOUTHEASTERN CHINA IN
THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.


 
BESIDES, TROPICAL CYCLONE JONGDARI WEAKENED PROGRESSIVELY
FROM TYPHOON INTO A TROPICAL STORM YESTERDAY. AT 11 P.M.
LAST NIGHT, JONGDARI WAS CENTRED ABOUT 40 KILOMETRES
EAST-NORTHEAST OF NAGASAKI. IT IS FORECAST TO MOVE
SOUTH-SOUTHWEST AT ABOUT 12 KILOMETRES PER HOUR INTO THE
EAST CHINA SEA.


 
WEATHER FORECAST FOR HONG KONG


 
MAINLY CLOUDY WITH ISOLATED SHOWERS. THE MINIMUM
TEMPERATURE WILL ABOUT 28 DEGREES. VERY HOT WITH SUNNY
PERIODS DURING THE DAY. THE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE WILL BE
AROUND 33 DEGREES. LIGHT TO MODERATE SOUTHERLY WINDS.
