TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
THE STRONG WIND SIGNAL, NO. 3 WAS ISSUED AT 12:40 P.M.
THIS MEANS THAT WINDS WITH MEAN SPEEDS OF 41 TO 62
KILOMETRES PER HOUR ARE EXPECTED.
AT 1 P.M., TROPICAL STORM EWINIAR WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT
330 KILOMETRES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 20.9
DEGREES NORTH 111.4 DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE
NORTH OR NORTH-NORTHEAST AT ABOUT 10 KILOMETRES PER HOUR
EDGING CLOSER TO THE COAST OF WESTERN GUANGDONG.
ACCORDING TO THE PRESENT FORECAST TRACK, EWINIAR WILL KEEP
A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 300 KILOMETERS FROM HONG KONG TODAY.
ITS RAINBANDS WILL BRING SQUALLS AND HEAVY RAIN TO THE
TERRITORY. MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC SHOULD STAY ON THE ALERT.
THE CHANCE OF ISSUING THE GALE OR STORM WIND SIGNAL, NO. 8
TODAY WILL BE RELATIVELY LOW.
OUTER RAINBANDS ASSOCIATED WITH EWINIAR WILL STILL BRING
SQUALLY SHOWERS TO THE COAST OF GUANGDONG IN THE NEXT
COUPLE OF DAYS.

3. SEAS ARE ROUGH AND THERE ARE SWELLS, YOU ARE ADVISED TO
STAY AWAY FROM THE SHORELINE AND LOW-LYING AREAS, AND NOT
TO ENGAGE IN WATER SPORTS.
4. AVOID STAYING IN AREAS EXPOSED TO HIGH WINDS. DRIVERS
USING HIGHWAYS AND FLYOVERS SHOULD BE ALERT TO VIOLENT
GUSTS.
5. CONSTRUCTION AND PROPERTY MANAGEMENT PRACTITIONERS
SHOULD MAKE SURE THAT OVERHANGING FACILITIES AND TEMPORARY
STRUCTURES OUTDOORS ARE SECURELY FASTENED OR PLACED ON THE
GROUND, AND COMPLETE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES AS SOON AS
POSSIBLE.
