TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
THE STANDBY SIGNAL, NO. 1 IS IN FORCE.
THIS MEANS THAT A TROPICAL CYCLONE NOW CENTRED WITHIN ABOUT
800 KILOMETRES OF HONG KONG MAY AFFECT US.
AT 10 A.M., TROPICAL STORM EWINIAR WAS ESTIMATED TO BE
ABOUT 340 KILOMETRES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 20.9
DEGREES NORTH 111.3 DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE
NORTH OR NORTH-NORTHEAST AT ABOUT 10 KILOMETRES PER HOUR
EDGING CLOSER TO THE COAST OF WESTERN GUANGDONG.
ACCORDING TO THE PRESENT FORECAST TRACK, EWINIAR WILL EDGE
CLOSER TO HONG KONG DURING THE DAY TODAY. LOCAL WINDS ARE
EXPECTED TO STRENGTHEN. THE RAINBANDS ASSOCIATED WITH
EWINIAR WILL CONTINUE TO BRING SQUALLS AND HEAVY SHOWERS TO
HONG KONG. THE OBSERVATORY WILL CONSIDER ISSUING THE STRONG
WIND SIGNAL, NO.3 BEFORE 2 P.M.
OUTER RAINBANDS ASSOCIATED WITH EWINIAR WILL STILL BRING
SHOWERS AND SQUALLS TO THE COAST OF GUANGDONG IN THE NEXT
COUPLE OF DAYS.
