TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
THE STANDBY SIGNAL, NO. 1 IS IN FORCE.
AT 9 P.M., TROPICAL STORM EWINIAR WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT
440 KILOMETRES SOUTHWEST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 19.9 DEGREES
NORTH 110.8 DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO BE SLOW-MOVING
AND LINGER IN THE VICINITY OF LEIZHOU PENINSULA.
SINCE EWINIAR MAINTAINS A DISTANCE OF MORE THAN 400
KILOMETRES FROM HONG KONG, THE CHANCE TO ISSUE THE STRONG
WIND SIGNAL, NO.3 WILL NOT BE HIGH TONIGHT AND BEFORE
SUNRISE TOMORROW.
ACCORDING TO THE PRESENT FORECAST TRACK, EWINIAR IS
EXPECTED TO EDGE CLOSER TO THE WESTERN COAST OF GUANGDONG
TOMORROW. HOWEVER, THERE IS STILL UNCERTAINTY IN THE
MOVEMENT OF EWINIAR. DEPENDING ON THE VARIATIONS IN LOCAL
WINDS, THE OBSERVATORY WILL CONSIDER THE NEED TO CHANGE THE
TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING SIGNAL DURING THE DAY TOMORROW.
OUTER RAINBANDS ASSOCIATED WITH EWINIAR WILL CONTINUE TO
BRING HEAVY SHOWERS AND SQUALLS TO HONG KONG IN THE NEXT
FEW DAYS, WITH OCCASIONAL STRONG WINDS OVER OFFSHORE WATERS
AND ON HIGH GROUND.
