TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
 
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
 
THE STRONG WIND SIGNAL, NO. 3 WAS ISSUED AT 5:10 P.M.
 
THIS MEANS THAT WINDS WITH MEAN SPEEDS OF 41 TO 62
KILOMETRES PER HOUR ARE EXPECTED.
 
AT 5 P.M., TYPHOON HATO WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT 200
KILOMETRES WEST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 22.5 DEGREES NORTH 112.2
DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE WEST-NORTHWEST AT
ABOUT 25 KILOMETRES PER HOUR INTO INLAND GUANGDONG, AND
WEAKEN GRADUALLY.
 
STRONG WINDS ARE STILL AFFECTING THE SOUTHWESTERN PART OF
HONG KONG. DEPENDING ON THE CHANGES IN LOCAL WINDS, THE
OBSERVATORY WILL CONSIDER ISSUING THE STANDBY SIGNAL NO.1.
 
UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF THE OUTER RAINBAND OF HATO, THERE
WILL STILL BE OCCASIONAL SHOWERS AND SQUALLS.
 
IN THE PAST HOUR, THE MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS RECORDED AT
NGONG PING AND SHA CHAU WERE 60 AND 52 KILOMETRES PER HOUR
WITH MAXIMUM GUSTS 85 AND 71 KILOMETRES PER HOUR
RESPECTIVELY.

1. FLIGHTS AT HONG KONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MAY BE
AFFECTED BY THE WEATHER. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR AIRLINE FOR
THE LATEST FLIGHT INFORMATION BEFORE DEPARTING FOR THE
AIRPORT.
 
2. SINCE SEAS ARE ROUGH AND THERE ARE SWELLS, YOU ARE
ADVISED TO STAY AWAY FROM THE SHORELINE AND NOT TO ENGAGE
IN WATER SPORTS.
 
3. BEWARE THAT UNSECURED OBJECTS MAY BE BLOWN DOWN. ON NO
ACCOUNT SHOULD YOU TOUCH ELECTRIC CABLES THAT HAVE BEEN
BLOWN LOOSE.
 
4. IT IS NOT YET SAFE FOR SMALL CRAFT AND FISHING VESSELS
TO LEAVE TYPHOON SHELTERS.
