HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.
GENERAL SITUATION
A BROAD TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE AFFECTED THE COAST OF
GUANGDONG YESTERDAY. LOCALLY, IT WAS MAINLY CLOUDY WITH
SHOWERS. THERE WERE A FEW SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS AT FIRST
AND BRIGHT PERIODS IN THE AFTERNOON. MORE THAN 30
MILLIMETRES OF RAINFALL WERE RECORDED OVER THE URBAN AREAS
AND LANTAU ISLAND IN THE MORNING. WITH AN ANTICYCLONE ALOFT
STRENGTHENING GRADUALLY, IT WILL BE MAINLY FINE AND VERY
HOT OVER SOUTHEASTERN CHINA IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.
BESIDES, NORU WEAKENED FROM A SEVERE TYPHOON INTO A TYPHOON
YESTERDAY MORNING. AT 11 P.M. LAST NIGHT, NORU WAS CENTRED
ABOUT 270 KILOMETRES SOUTH OF KAGOSHIMA. IT IS FORECAST TO
MOVE NORTHWEST OR WEST-NORTHWEST AT ABOUT 10 KILOMETRES PER
HOUR ACROSS THE SEAS SOUTH OF JAPAN AND MOVE TOWARDS
KYUSHU, JAPAN.
WEATHER FORECAST FOR HONG KONG
MAINLY CLOUDY. THERE WILL BE A FEW SHOWERS IN THE MORNING.
THE MINIMUM TEMPERATURE WILL BE ABOUT 27 DEGREES. HOT WITH
SUNNY PERIODS DURING THE DAY WITH A MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF
AROUND 32 DEGREES. MODERATE SOUTH TO SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS.
