HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.
GENERAL SITUATION
A REPLENISHMENT OF THE NORTHEAST MONSOON REACHED THE COAST
OF GUANGDONG YESTERDAY MORNING. LOCALLY, IT WAS CLOUDY WITH
OCCASIONAL RAIN YESTERDAY. THE WEATHER BECAME APPRECIABLY
COOL. TEMPERATURES OVER MOST PARTS OF THE TERRITORY IN THE
AFTERNOON WERE 6 TO 7 DEGREES LOWER THAN THOSE OF THE DAY
BEFORE. MORE THAN 20 MILLIMETRES OF RAINFALL WERE RECORDED
OVER MOST PARTS OF THE TERRITORY YESTERDAY, RAINFALL EVEN
EXCEEDED 40 MILLIMETRES AT HONG KONG ISLAND WEST, SHA TIN
AND TAI PO. THE MINIMUM TEMPERATURE RECORDED AT THE
OBSERVATORY LAST NIGHT WAS 13.3 DEGREES, THE LOWEST SO FAR
SINCE AUTUMN THIS YEAR. THE NORTHEAST MONSOON IS EXPECTED
TO BRING COOL WEATHER TO THE SOUTH CHINA COASTAL AREAS IN
THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
TOKAGE INTENSIFIED INTO A SEVERE TROPICAL STORM YESTERDAY.
AT 11 P.M. LAST NIGHT, TOKAGE WAS CENTRED ABOUT 660
KILOMETRES SOUTH OF DONGSHA. IT IS FORECAST TO MOVE NORTH
AT ABOUT 12 KILOMETRES PER HOUR ACROSS THE CENTRAL PART OF
THE SOUTH CHINA SEA.
WEATHER FORECAST FOR HONG KONG
CLOUDY. OCCASIONAL RAIN AT FIRST. RAIN WILL EASE OFF
GRADUALLY. IT WILL BE RATHER COOL. THE MINIMUM TEMPERATURE
WILL BE AROUND 13 DEGREES IN THE URBAN AREAS, AND A COUPLE
OF DEGREES LOWER IN THE NEW TERRITORIES. SUNNY INTERVALS
DURING THE DAY WITH A MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF ABOUT 18
DEGREES. MODERATE TO FRESH NORTHERLY WINDS, STRONG OFFSHORE
AND ON HIGH GROUND AT FIRST.
