TROPICAL CYCLONE BULLETIN
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE

THE STANDBY SIGNAL, NO. 1 IS IN FORCE.
THIS MEANS THAT A TROPICAL CYCLONE NOW CENTRED WITHIN ABOUT
800 KILOMETRES OF HONG KONG MAY AFFECT US.
AT NOON, TROPICAL STORM AERE WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT 260
KILOMETRES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 21.2 DEGREES

AND LINGER OVER THE NORTHERN PART OF THE SOUTH CHINA SEA.
AERE HAS A RATHER SMALL CIRCULATION AND IS SLOW-MOVING. THE

AS AERE IS EXPECTED TO LINGER AT A DISTANCE OVER 200

REMAIN IN FORCE FOR SOME TIME.
UNDER THE COMBINED EFFECT OF AERE AND THE NORTHEAST
MONSOON, WINDS AND WAVES WILL BE STRONGER OVER OFFSHORE
