Hongkong Post alerts public to fraudulent Hongkong Post "EC-Ship" website

Hongkong Post today (December 1) appealed to members of the public to stay alert to two fraudulent Hongkong Post "EC-Ship" website addresses (https[:]//www.xn--5nqx41a7vhqjjzy7bca609hbif[.]com[/]ecship/delivery-information.html and www[.]香港邮政电子邮件[.]com/ecship/delivery-information.html) and beware of fraudulent SMS messages or emails purportedly sent by Hongkong Post, which provided hyperlinks that lead to the fraudulent website for requesting the recipient to provide personal information or payment for postage.

Hongkong Post clarifies that it has no connection to the fraudulent website and addresses and has reported the case to the Police for follow-up. Hongkong Post reminded the public that its "EC-Ship" website is (http://ec-ship.hongkongpost.hk), and Hongkong Post will only use "#HKPost" to send SMS messages to local subscribers of mobile phone services and use the domain name "@hkpo.gov.hk" or "@hongkongpost.hk" to send emails. Hongkong Post reiterates that it will not send embedded hyperlinks via emails, SMS messages or social media platforms for collecting payments and personal information.
