The Bazaar Carnival in Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China is being held at Sha Tin Park for five consecutive days, starting from today (October 25) to October 29. The Bazaar Carnival features 75 market stalls, offering specialty foods and hometown products from across the country, as well as diverse cultural performances, sharing and extending the joyful atmosphere of National Day to members of the public.

The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Chan Kwok-ki, together with the Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Miss Alice Mak, and the Director of Home Affairs, Mrs Alice Cheung, officiated at the opening ceremony.

Mr Chan said at the opening ceremony that the Bazaar Carnival is jointly organised by the Home Affairs Department and 28 provincial-level clansmen associations. The Bazaar Carnival features 75 market stalls, showcasing the unique food, culture and customs of each province. Mr Chan expressed that the clansmen associations have been playing an important role in the development of Hong Kong, facilitating exchanges and co-operation between Hong Kong and the motherland in various areas and deepening the friendship between the people of both places. Mr Chan said he hopes the clansmen associations will continue to make good use of their extensive connections to promote exchanges and collaboration between Hong Kong and Mainland provinces, as well as working with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to build Hong Kong into a place for top talent, enabling Hong Kong to play its unique role as a "super connector" and "super value-adder" and creating opportunities for the country's opening up to the world and realising high-quality development.
