Interdepartmental working group on festival arrangements releases latest information for cross-boundary travellers after National Day Fireworks Display
******************************************************************************************
As it is anticipated that there will be higher number of travellers making use of land-based Boundary Control Points (BCPs) to leave Hong Kong after the National Day Fireworks Display this evening, the Transport Department (TD) appeals to these travellers to plan ahead their journeys, reserve sufficient commuting time and note the following arrangements:
(a) the operating hours of MTR services will not be extended this evening but train frequencies will be increased after the Fireworks Display for crowd dispersal. Those travellers heading for Shenzhen may take MTR East Rail Line whose last departure heading for Lo Wu will leave Admiralty Station at 11.01pm;
(b) Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Lok Ma Chau-Huanggang Port are operated round-the-clock. The services of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) shuttle bus (Gold Bus), the Lok Ma Chau-Huanggang cross-boundary shuttle bus (Yellow Bus) and Lok Ma Chau-Huanggang short-haul cross-boundary coaches will be enhanced to facilitate travellers to return to Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Macao after the Fireworks Display; and
(c) local public transport operators will arrange spare vehicles and manpower to meet the travel need of cross-boundary travellers.
The TD's Emergency Transport Co-ordination Centre will continue to operate 24 hours to closely monitor the traffic conditions and public transport services of various districts including BCPs and major stations. The TD will also disseminate the latest traffic information through various channels.
The interdepartmental working group on festival arrangements is tasked with holistically reviewing and steering the overall co-ordination efforts of various government departments to welcome visitors to Hong Kong during the National Day Golden Week, as well as strengthening information dissemination to enable the public and visitors to plan their itineraries according to the latest situation. The working group will continue to monitor various circumstances during the Golden Week, taking appropriate measures based on practical needs and making timely announcements.
