**************************************************************************
The Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Cheuk Wing-hing, enjoyed National Day dining and shopping offers in Wan Chai today (October 1) after attending the flag-raising ceremony in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the National Day reception. He first shopped at an outdoor market, sampled Hong Kong-style food and then bought takeaway at an indoor cooked food centre to celebrate this joyous occasion of the National Day with members of the public.

Mr Cheuk first visited the Cross Street Outdoor Market in Wan Chai, where he bought native foods, clothing and snacks. He then went to a tea house and ordered dishes such as shrimp toasts, hot dogs and icy herbal jelly with ice cream, all enjoyed with an all-day discount of 25 per cent off the bill. He also went to Wan Chai Bowrington Road Cooked Food Centre to buy roasted meat and curry lamb brisket at a discount of 25 per cent.

Talking with market retailers and customers, he was pleased to see that members of the public were supportive of the rich array of special offers and activities rolled out by different sectors of the community in response to the co-ordination of the Government. The offers and activities covered areas such as public transport, culture, arts and leisure, dining and consumption, as well as reward activities, all towards sharing the joy of National Day with the public.

Mr Cheuk called upon members of the public to enjoy the wide variety of special offers and participate in different celebration activities to personally embrace the joy and excitement of the National Day.
