*********************************************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

As the moon reaches its fullest and brightest, the Mid-Autumn Festival highlights the theme of unity.

Tomorrow (September 17) marks the Mid-Autumn Festival. The Hospital Authority (HA) has organised various celebratory activities for patients, allowing them to experience the festive spirit even while undergoing treatment in hospitals.

The festival embodies the meaning of unity. The healthcare team and volunteers express their warm wishes through thoughtful gifts, including healthy mooncakes symbolising reunion, lanterns signifying brightness and good fortune, charming handcrafted mooncake decorations, and delightful healthy custard buns shaped like bears.

The HA extends its wishes for a speedy recovery to all patients, hoping for a joyful reunion under the full moon.

A group of volunteers from the Patient Resources Centre of Tuen Mun Hospital, who are also outpatients of the hospital, crocheted mooncake-shaped ornaments as handicrafted gifts to share their heartfelt blessings. These invaluable "handmade mooncakes" are sugar-free yet filled with delightful sweetness and love as rich as the full moon.
Volunteers from the Health Resource Centre of Caritas Medical Centre visited child patients in a Paediatrics and Adolescents ward and distributed lanterns along with get-well cards, in the hope of creating a festive atmosphere for patients during their hospitalisation.

The management team at Kwai Chung Hospital has prepared red bean paste jelly mooncakes for distribution to inpatients during the Mid-Autumn Festival. A pureed version of the mooncakes has also been made for patients with swallowing difficulties, allowing them to enjoy this festive treat together.
Kowloon Hospital has prepared bear-shaped custard buns as festive treats for patients without dietary restrictions during the Mid-Autumn Festival dinner, providing them with a sweet surprise.
