2024 Policy Address consultation session for post-secondary students smoothly held (with photos)

     The Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Cheuk Wing-hing, attended a 2024 Policy Address consultation session today (August 20) to listen to the views and suggestions from post-secondary students on the upcoming Policy Address. Also present were the Secretary for Education, Dr Choi Yuk-lin; the Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Miss Alice Mak; and the Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Clement Woo.

     The two-hour consultation session was held at the Education Bureau Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre and attended by some 180 students from various universities and higher-education institutions. More than 20 students expressed their views and put forward their suggestions, covering a range of topics including education, youth development, social mobility, innovation and entrepreneurship, and opportunities from national developments.

     Mr Cheuk said, "I thank the post-secondary students for participating in the consultation session today. Education and youth development have always been high on the priorities of the Government, and an essential part of the future development of Hong Kong. We attach great importance to the views of our young people and look forward to working with them to enhance the momentum of Hong Kong's development. Coupled with the goal of building a leading country in education, the Belt and Road Initiative and the immense opportunities brought by the rapid developments of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, they can play a role in contributing to the national development."

     The Government launched the public consultation for the Policy Address on July 16. The Government will continue to gather views from organisations and individuals in different sectors in the coming month or so through activities including consultation sessions and district visits.
