Special traffic and transport arrangements in Wan Chai District for football exhibition match at Hong Kong Stadium this weekend

The Transport Department (TD) today (February 2) reminded the public that the following special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented this weekend (February 3 and 4) in the vicinity of So Kon Po and Causeway Bay to facilitate the holding of a football exhibition match and related activities at the Hong Kong Stadium.
Road Closure
-------------
The following road sections will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic in phases:
At the commencement of the event
- From about 2pm on February 3 (Saturday) and from about noon on February 4 (Sunday)
- The section of Caroline Hill Road between Leighton Road and Cotton Path;
- The section of Hysan Avenue westbound carriageway between Yun Ping Road and Hoi Ping Road; and
- The section of Lee Garden Road between Lan Fong Road and Hysan Avenue (when necessary, except for Green Minibuses (GMB)).
- From about 4pm on February 3 (Saturday) and from about 2pm on February 4 (Sunday)
- The section of Eastern Hospital Road between Caroline Hill Road and Tung Lo Wan Road.
At the closing of the event
- From about 7pm on February 3 (Saturday) and from about 5.30pm on February 4 (Sunday)
- Caroline Hill Road;
- The section of Eastern Hospital Road between Caroline Hill Road and Cotton Path;
- The northbound carriageway of Link Road (downhill);
- Hoi Ping Road;
- Sunning Road; and
- Leighton Road (when necessary).
Traffic Diversion
----------------
In connection with the above-mentioned road closure arrangements, the following traffic diversion will be implemented in phases on Saturday and Sunday, until the closed roads reopen:
At the commencement of the event
- From about 2pm on February 3 (Saturday) and from about noon on February 4 (Sunday)
- The section of Caroline Hill Road between its western junction with Link Road and Stadium Path will be converted to one-way southbound;
- The section of Eastern Hospital Road between Stadium Path and Tung Lo Wan Road will be converted to one-way northbound;
- Vehicles travelling on Link Road northbound (downhill) to Caroline Hill Road northbound must turn left onto Leighton Road westbound;
- The section of Hysan Avenue between Leighton Road and Hoi Ping Road will be converted to one-way eastbound;
- Vehicles leaving the private road of Lee Garden One must turn left onto Hysan Avenue eastbound;
- Vehicles travelling on Yun Ping Road will be prohibited from turning left onto Hysan Avenue westbound, and will be diverted onto Lan Fong Road and Pak Sha Road; and
- When necessary, vehicles (except Green Minibuses) travelling on Lan Fong Road will be prohibited from turning left onto Lee Garden Road southbound and will be diverted onto Lee Garden Road northbound, Foo Ming Street and Percival Street southbound.
- From about 4pm on February 3 (Saturday) and from about 2pm on February 4 (Sunday)
- The section of Caroline Hill Road between its western junction with Link Road and Eastern Hospital Road will be converted to one-way southbound;
- Vehicles travelling on link Road northbound downhill to Caroline Hill Road northbound is prohibited from turning right onto Caroline Hill Road;
- When necessary, vehicles travelling on Yun Ping Road will be prohibited from turning left to Hysan Avenue westbound and will be diverted onto Lan Fong Road or Yun Ping Road.
At the closing of the event
- From about 7pm on February 3 (Saturday) and from about 5.30pm on February 4 (Sunday)
- Vehicles travelling on Leighton Road westbound will be prohibited from entering Caroline Hill Road for Link Road, those heading for Link Road will be diverted via Wong Nai Chung Road and Broadwood Road;
- During the closure of Leighton Road when necessary, vehicles travelling on Causeway Road westbound will be diverted via Irving Street; vehicles travelling on Morrison Hill Road eastbound will be diverted via Canal Road West; vehicles travelling on Percival Street southbound must turn right onto Leighton Road westbound; and vehicles travelling on Canal Road East southbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Leighton Road.
From 1pm to 9pm on February 3 and from 11am to 9pm on February 4, the on-street parking spaces within the road closure areas and the taxi stand located in Yun Ping Road will be suspended.
The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of So Kon Po and Causeway Bay will be very congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas.
Public transport service arrangements

In connection with the above-mentioned road closure arrangements, the following bus and GMB routes operating in the affected areas will be subjected to temporary diversion and associated stop relocation arrangements:
- From about 2pm on February 3 (Saturday) and from about noon on February 4 (Sunday)
- Citybus (CTB) route Nos. 5B and 8H will operate in the form of a circular route;
- Cross-harbour bus (XHT) route No. 936 (Causeway Bay bound) will terminate at Tung Lo Wan Road instead of Cotton Path; and
- The bus stops at Leighton Road westbound near Caroline Hill Road will be suspended.
- From about 4pm on February 3 (Saturday) and from about 2pm on February 4 (Sunday)
- CTB route Nos. 5B and 8H will omit Tung Lo Wan Road, Caroline Hill Road and Eastern Hospital Road;
- XHT route No. 936 (Tsuen Wan (Shek Wai Kok) bound) will depart from Moreton Terrace outside Bay View Mansion instead of Cotton Path; and
- GMB route Nos. 14M and 30 and residents' service route No. HR51 (Causeway Bay bound) will be diverted via Wong Nai Chung Road instead of Link Road and GMB route No. 26 (Stubbs Road bound) will be diverted via Percival Street instead of Lee Garden Road.
At the closing of the event on February 3 and 4, CTB will provide one special bus route No. 976R from Causeway Bay (Moreton Terrance) Bus Terminus to Yuen Long (San Tin), and the number of trips and departure times will depend on the passenger demand and traffic condition on-site.
Members of the public are advised to make use of public transport services as far as possible to avoid traffic congestion and unnecessary delays. During the event, the TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation. The Police may adjust the traffic arrangements subject to the prevailing crowd and traffic conditions in the areas. Members of the public should pay attention to the latest traffic news through radio, television or the "HKeMobility" mobile application.
