Overview of Enhanced Water Quality Monitoring Programme in 2023 (with photo)
***************************************************************

The Water Supplies Department (WSD) announced today (January 11) that drinking water samples were collected from water taps of 661 randomly selected premises under the Enhanced Water Quality Monitoring Programme (Enhanced Programme) in 2023 for testing of residual chlorine, Escherichia coli and six metals, viz. antimony, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead and nickel.  Results indicated that all drinking water samples complied with the Hong Kong Drinking Water Standards.

The WSD implemented the Enhanced Programme in 2017 and extended the drinking water quality monitoring to residential and non-residential consumers' taps. The weekly statistics on water quality monitoring data at consumers' taps under the Enhanced Programme are available on the WSD's website.

To safeguard buildings' drinking water safety, property owners and property management agents are advised to implement a water safety plan for their buildings and to join the Quality Water Supply Scheme for Buildings - Fresh Water (Management System). Members of the public may visit the WSD's website for more information on drinking water safety in buildings.
