The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Berlin (HKETO Berlin) is presenting four Hong Kong productions to Swiss audiences at the 19th Zurich Film Festival (ZFF), taking place from September 28 to October 8 (Zurich time).

Hong Kong is playing a starring role at the second largest festival in the German-speaking world, as the ZFF presents some of the most beautiful new movie discoveries as well as some of the most anticipated films of the year this autumn.

The "Hong Kong Window", a dedicated programme of four Hong Kong films, opened with the screening of "A Guilty Conscience", an exciting courtroom drama. The film tells the thrilling story of a mother's struggle for justice for her deceased child. Written and directed by Jack Ng, "A Guilty Conscience" has reached a record-breaking milestone: it is now the highest-grossing Hong Kong film ever. It achieved this feat in less than 30 days of its release, the fastest movie to ever do so.

Speaking at the opening screening of the "Hong Kong Window", the Director of HKETO Berlin, Ms Jenny Szeto, said that Hong Kong people have always been proud of its film industry, and that the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is strongly determined to further nurture the city's arts and culture sector, including the film industry.

"Hong Kong is now actively positioning itself as an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange," Ms Szeto explained. The current-term Government is committed to fostering the cultural development of Hong Kong, and is in the midst of mapping out a blueprint for arts and culture and creative industries development, nurturing a diverse talent pool, and upgrading cultural infrastructure to further enhance the ecosystem for relevant industries.

"This will open up plenty of opportunities in Hong Kong's film sector. I sincerely invite all film and creative professionals from around the world to come to Hong Kong and join us in creating even better quality productions that bring a positive impact to the world," Ms Szeto concluded.
