Create Hong Kong sponsored and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London (London ETO) supported the "Making Waves - Navigators of Hong Kong Cinema" programme in Stockholm, Sweden from September 22 to 24 (Stockholm time), showcasing a selection of six Hong Kong films and live sharing by the directors from Hong Kong of some of these films. The programme was presented by the Hong Kong International Film Festival in partnership with the Asian Film Festival.

The Director-General of the London ETO, Mr Gilford Law, delivered a virtual speech prior to the opening screening of "A Light Never Goes Out" to kick-start the film festival.  Mr Law said, "Hong Kong is an international hub for cultural and creative industries with promising development opportunities. The opening film 'A Light Never Goes Out' offers a glimpse into the everyday life in Hong Kong, capturing the sentimental attachment to our city, its distinctive architecture, and enduring social customs."

"The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government is committed to attracting creative talents to the city, including professionals and practitioners involved in film making. With our unique status and strengths under 'one country, two systems', also capitalising on our sophisticated fusion of East and West, we are determined to become a hub for arts and cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world, as supported by the National 14th Five-Year Plan," he added.

The three-day film festival presented six Hong Kong films to the audience in Stockholm, namely "A Light Never Goes Out", "Cyber Heist", "In Broad Daylight", "The Sunny Side Of The Street", "Vital Sign", and "A Guilty Conscience", with the presence of four Hong Kong directors, namely, Cheuk Wan-chi, Jack Ng, Anastasia Tsang and Danny Wong, who engaged with the local audience through Questions and Answers sessions before the screening of their films.
