LCSD to present "The Contemporary Classics" concert in early October (with photos)

In this concert, the quartet will first present "Jagged Edge" by local film composer Elliot Leung. They will also perform Khachaturian's Trio for Clarinet, Violin and Piano, Bartók's "Contrasts" for Clarinet, Violin and Piano, and Messiaen's "Quartet for the End of Time", to allow audiences to appreciate the beautiful music pieces of these four composers.
Hong Kong native Andrew Ling is a concert violist and violinist. He is also a conductor as well as a music educator. Being the principal violist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil), he has garnered acclaim for his orchestral playing and solo recitals worldwide. He appeared with the HK Phil, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and the China Film Symphony Orchestra as a concert soloist. He is currently holding teaching positions at the Hong Kong Baptist University and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
Richard Bamping has been the principal cellist of the HK Phil since 1993. He has performed with many of the finest musicians of recent history, including Yehudi Menuhin, Leonidas Kavakos, Mstislav Rostropovich, Carlo Maria Giulini, Valery Gergiev, Leonard Bernstein, Lorin Maazel, Sir Colin Davis and Claudio Abbado. Bamping has also performed many of the staples of the solo cello repertoire with orchestras from the Far East to Europe.
Dora Tsang earned a doctorate degree in piano performance at the University of Minnesota in the United States. She has rich experience in solo and chamber music performance. Wun Wai-ki obtained a doctorate degree at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, the United States, where he majored in clarinet performance. He has performed on stage as a clarinettist, violinist, vocalist and conductor.
