Mainland youth exchange programme for Leadership Institute on Narcotics successfully concluded (with photos)

More than one hundred mentees and mentors of L.I.O.N., led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ms Chung Wing-man, the Principal President of L.I.O.N., Mr Leslie Choy, and Vice President, Mr Kerry Wong, went to Shenzhen to exchange with Mainland youths. The exchange focused on the anti-drug efforts in both places, aiming to encourage Hong Kong young people to learn from the Mainland’s anti-drug objectives and exchange views on anti-drug development in the two places.
The L.I.O.N. mentees first visited the Shenzhen drug education base to have exchanges with Mainland anti-drug pioneers and social workers. The mentees gained an in-depth understanding of the Mainland’s anti-drug experience and learned about their anti-drug strategies. In order to promote drug prohibition among the young people of Hong Kong and Shenzhen, the mentees and the Mainland youths had enthusiastic discussions on anti-drug issues, and shared their experiences on anti-drug culture and education. They also explored the direction and possibility of future collaboration between the two places in anti-drug campaigns and presented their ideas.
In addition, the L.I.O.N. mentees visited three major high-tech enterprises on the Mainland, including internet, drones and electric vehicles companies. Apart from recognising the rapid development of cutting-edge technology of our country and deepening their understanding of national developments, they also had their mind-set and vision broadened, as well as their knowledge of the country’s innovation and technology development enhanced.
This exchange programme further promoted Hong Kong youths’ understanding of the country’s anti-drug programmes, which will be beneficial to the L.I.O.N. mentees in promoting anti-drug campaigns in schools and the community in the future.
The L.I.O.N. mentees expressed that the exchange programme provided them with the opportunity to have positive discussions on anti-drug issues with youths from Hong Kong and the Mainland, and gain a better understanding of the latest development of the country. Some also said that the exchange had given them inspiration on anti-drug awareness.
